People That Look Like Their Pets is the band's debut as the Frontyards, their most refined release yet, and a big step beyond their roots as the Basement Boys. They have traded in quick tunes and minute-ballads for ambitious full length garage pop tracks. The LP's jazzy and spacey rock instrumentation hangs behind reverb soaked, matter-o-fact lyrics with a folk sensibility. Three interludes spur on the tape, playful doo-wop songs and synth jams perk it up, and a closing feature from Claire Cottrill ends it on a bittersweet note.
